Congratulations to all the graduates out there! I made this card, from an SVG file over at Creative Kuts.com. I used my niece's school colors. Added a tassel to the hat, and a little brad. This is what I have came up with for a colorful summer..

 

I spend way too much time on Pinterest, as I'm sure many of you do...anyway I saw this great wreath that screamed Summertime!! And since I had made a quilt in the same theme for my granddaughter, decided she needed this wreath for her room! So here's my Flip Flop Wreath:
 

 

I added a purple bow, since Purple is her favorite color.. I covered a stryofoam wreath shape in light purple grosgrain ribbon, thinking that would be easier to adhere the flip flops too since so many glues say not to use on stryofoam.. still hard to find an adhesive that would hold the shoes on. I picked the shoes from the children's section so they had that youthful feel, and she loves the Peace Signs. I added some clip on bling to a couple of them.. Now let me show you the quilt, and now that she has her own room, I think it's a great set!!

I used fat quarters to get a variety of fabrics and traced one of her flip flops for the patterns. I appliqued them onto white 12 x 12 squares, added matching borders and put them all together. We added cute buttons to the toe straps, some with the same theme as the fabric. So cute! It's not award winning sewing, but she loved it and I loved making it for her! Now to take the wreath off my door and hang in her bedroom window for a summertime feeling there every day!

This is what I have made for you today, this makes my day feel like there is a little more sunshine in it.
I made a two page layout for those outdoor adventures we have in the summer, or hope to have. We'll have to travel a bit to get to any water, but Holiday World is close and my granddaughter loves the water park there.. hubby loves the coasters! That's the closest thing we have to a beach being landlocked in the Midwest. Anyway, I used an SVG file from Creative Kuts.com. Check it out!

I used various papers to make this, lots of scraps lying around.. but they work great when you need to cut small items to accent the main pieces. I love my girl! How stylish is she in her bathing suit, and matching bag and hat with those shades on? Now to put a hunky lifeguard in the chair... and the day is complete! This file reminds me of all the times I spent at Girl Scout Camp… my youngest daughter would have lived at camp if it had been up to her! I used papers from a Girl Scout stack by K&Company. The papers are perfect to remember all those wonderful Girl Scout activities and the backs are perfect for accents.  You can get this file for only $5.00 right now until June 1st over at the website or check out the facebook page for Creative Kuts. Challenge:   Shaped Cards

TGIF!! It's Janet here today and I want to share a shaped card I made for some décor to celebrate Mother's Day at my dining site for Seniors and the Disabled. Take a look:

It's a Tea Pot from Creative Kuts and I added a pearl on the lid, and a tag with the word Mom cutout of the side. I added some paper flowers from a collection at Hobby Lobby, and wrote a little note to all the ladies at lunch to have a wonderful Mother's Day last Friday. The lattice pulls down to open the card, but I glued it since it was décor. This file cuts the teapot base out in one cut. Then the lid and band on the lid is separate, and the inside piece behind the lattice is a separate cut. So you can really make the teapot as elaborate as you'd like. The tag is included and Mom cuts out on the edge of the tag, and the letters that spell Mom cut out to layer on top. You can check this file out as well as others over at www.creativekuts.com.

Now for my project using a few of the new releases!! First of all I used a layered garden flower to make this super quick and cute card to celebrate an upcoming graduation or a birthday or even Mother's Day! Take a look!

 

I used a bright sunny yellow background sheet from a DCWV stack called Handy-Dandy.

I put the flower on with a pop dot, inked the edges of the background piece and punched a banner and stamped Celebrate (CTMH) A versatile card to add to my stash of the busy month of May.... Now take a look at another project I did with some of the new release buttons! This would be a super end of the year gift for a teacher, a great organizer to keep track of family's schedules, even a Mother's Day present for MOM or a special friend.. Let me tell you how I made it and you can make 10 of the bases for less than $3.00.. a great summer project for a scout program, or youth activity or to keep the kids busy on a rainy day!

 

 

I purchased a package of metal flashing 5 x 7 squares at our local hardware store. 10 in a package for less than $3.00....I used the heavy duty tape to border one side. I cut a piece of DCWV background paper (you could do in school colors, group colors, to match room décor) at 5 1/2 x 7 1/2. I laid the metal flashing onto the paper, (tape still covered) and snipped off the corners at an angle to give me a nice clean corner when the paper was folded back. I removed the tape cover, folded the paper over, then cut another 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 and covered the metal showing on the back side. I used my Chomper to punch holes in the upper corners. You could adhere a magnet strip to the back for a locker organizer. I added a bright sunny yellow dotted ribbon and knotted the corners in the front. I cut a 4 3/4 by 2 inch strip and stamped Notes (CTMH) or you could personalize with a name, or Don't Forget, etc.

I adhered that to the front. Now with these two great buttons from Pinque Peacock, I put magnets on the back. (Wal-Mart) package of 10, are less than $2.00. Now I could assign a button to family members and any of those little appointment cards that always  seem to turn up missing, could be put under their button.. or a coupon, etc. I think these are the perfect little organizer for an office or home. See where else I hung mine...

 

In a kitchen for coupons or recipes. And yes, if you noticed, my cabinet wear is Silverware. This one is hanging on a fork, and the cabinets all have knifes or spoons. Visitors always notice them...

On a door knob, don't forget paperwork for the office or school other important info..

Hello! Mother's Day is the theme this week! If you're a Mother, let me wish you Happy Mother's Day! Mine has been gone since 1995 and not a day goes by that I wish I could just pick up the phone and call her or go see her. If you're a daughter, please know that while Moms can be a pain, they just have your back! I hope you appreciate yours. Give her a hug for me!!  I made a card today, and this was a challenge for me, since Mom is gone, but I'm going to give it to someone who has "adopted" me and is always there for me! Take a look!

 

The sentiment is from a Close To My Heart set, titled Spring, and I used the bird, flowers, and butterflies from a package of K and Company die cuts. I stamped the sentiment in green, layered on a green cardstock, added two yellow brads, and put it all on a yellow card base. It does look like Spring is finally here! My special friend invited me to a Mother/Daughter Tea later this week, so I'm going to put a note inside thanking her for the invitation and give to her at the event. I know she'll cry! She used to own a flower shop, so I know she's gonna love the flowers! Now it's your turn! Get your Mom or special someone's card ready and enter it in the challenge!! \

For my project, I made a layout. Take a look then  I'll tell you all about it!

 

All paper is from Stampin' Up. I cut the banner pieces from a punch I picked up while on vacation last week.. lucky find!! I used some purple letters from a sticker sheet to go with the purple around the photo. I started to use twine, and have a basket full but I couldn't find any colors I liked to go with the paper and banner, so I used a ribbon from that paper package to make a place to pin the pieces and added a bow. I was going to use this page for one of my daughters and her friends, but I had done some cleaning yesterday, and found these photos from a business trip in 2008. My co-workers and I had attended an AGSES (Association of Girl Scout Executive Staff) in Orlando, Florida and while we were there, it was my birthday. So they surprised me at dinner that evening. One of them had given me the photos she had taken that night and I thought this might be just perfect for my Friend Banner and it gets one more page done in my Girl Scout album. I had a wonderful experience, both as a girl, adult volunteer and then as staff and if you haven't checked out Girl Scouts in your area, please do so!

Hello!! Over at the Cuttin and Stampin Challenge blog, the theme is Child's Birthday. I made a card today for an upcoming birthday for my grandson. He's turning 4.. and lives in North Carolina so we won't get to celebrate with him, but I think he's going to like this card. Check it out!

This one of the cards that came in a kit of wobble cards from Kanban. I purchased it quite some time ago, and it got stuck away in my craft room (hoarder area) but I ran across it the other day. Now that we have 3 small grandchildren it's going to come in handy. The pieces can be used to embellish a scrapbook page or other décor as well. Each card comes with the base piece that rocks, a stabilizing piece to keep the card together enough to rock, the animal pieces, embellishments, such as the leaf and stars as well as sentiments for the inside. I stamped Happy Birthday inside and wrote a personal note to the birthday boy! The cards have a metallic accent and just sparkle! I think he'll enjoy it and will have a Greeeeaaattt Birthday! Good Morning! Today I've completed a layout for Creative Kuts. It should have been posted last month... but I think it was meant to be posted this month as Spring was late in arriving here in my neck of the woods! It feels more like it today, with temps up to about 80 and the sun is shining!! This file includes a cute little owl, that I've dressed up ready for an outing.. perhaps a Mother's Day event. There are tons of flowers on the border, and around the swing, the cute photo mat and the doily. All papers are from a Celebration package from Stamping Up. Anyone of these elements would be great on a card, other layout, or project you might want to do.
