Karma

Our Kreative Karma

Good Morning! It's been cold in my neck of the woods... hope you're staying warm if it is in yours as well. This month our theme has been Hobbies! I started crafting at an early age with two aunts teaching me various techniques. Crochet, Knitting, Sewing, and other hand crafts that were popular in the late 50's and 60's.. and Macrame! LOL I thought since you see a lot of paper projects which are my current passion, cards, layouts, etc., I'd share something different today. Back to my roots kind of thing.. So take a look!

First of all is a quilt that my granddaughter and I made a couple of years ago. I used to sew all my Barbie doll clothes, and I still love a great sewing project. I took one of her flip flops, made a pattern (pre Cricut/Cameo days) and then cut out pairs of shoes in fun fabrics. I purchased buttons to go with the fabric, made them into squares, added a border and then put it all together. She thinks it's too pretty to use.. and I keep telling her if she doesn't take it home soon, it'll be my lap blanket at the nursing home! She just laughs and thinks I'm kidding.. and I hope I'm not ready for that soon! I just love how bright and colorful it is.. cheery!

Next is a Ceramic Strawberry Cake plate. In the 70's I had a dear friend who owned a Ceramic shop and she had me come in and help her and taught me how to do various ceramic techniqes and clay lifting. I just fell in love with that and bought 2 kilns of my own, and converted my garage into a little ceramic shop. My co-workers at the time would come over and we'd paint, and chat and eat.. but it was such a great time and I sold a lot of my pieces. My mom was in a Bunco club at the time and everytime I made something, she'd say " I need 12 of those for my club". And I would say, but there's only 11 in the club besides you, and she'd reply, "well, I want one too!" She kept me busy! I made a Victorian shoe one time, which I was going to photograph, but just couldn't get to it.. anyway, I gave one to my boss at a part time job I had at the time, and she put it on the counter. Before the week was over I had orders for 150! I really never wanted to see that boot again..

When my oldest daughter was born prematurely, I made all the Doctors and Nursers who took care of her a Ceramic doll for their profession. I painted the hair and eyes and any logos on their hats, or coats to match. I had them all done and when she came home from the hospital ( 3 months later) I gave them to each person and thanked them. They were so touched but they did a miraclous job of taking care of a baby that wasn't expected to live over night and now will be 39 this year!! This Shortcake was my mom's favorite. She never used it, afraid she'd break it and now it's in my curio cabinet. My daughter says it's hers... At the time I did ceramics, my life was hectic, scary, and it kept me sane sitting down with friends and painting or coloring etc. Today my life is quieter and I've made new friends in the paper world. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed your visit.

I used a red cardstock base, added a textured white mat, lacy heart (the kind you see in the stores in a pack for practically nothing) then stamped the sentiment from A Muse Studio. This set is called Love Me Do. I just love it. I added some red bling, inked all edges and presto, a great little card for someone this Valentine season.
I also made a couple of other cards...

Perhaps an Anniversary or Wedding card.. classic Black and White, Stamped the bride and groom (unknown) added a bow and some bling, and the sentiment is A Muse Studio. It'll be great for a shower gift too.

Hubba Hubba... I stamped the Red Fancy dress.. and embossed it, matted it on black, onto a red cardstock base, with red ribbon. Inside, the sentiment is A Muse Studio from the Hand Scripted set. Maybe if one of my friends meet their resolution to shape up this New Year, I can send it to them.. but  I think my friends are just Fabulous the way they are! I know how busy I am, and you probably are too, but cards can be quick and easy and look great and your family and friends will appreciate that you thought of them! Creative Kuts

Good Morning! I hope you all are following the fun over at Creative Kuts on Facebook! This is a new layout just going into the store!! Here's the link for you http://www.creativekuts.com/Tea-riffic-Package-TR0113.htm  There are lots of awesome new files over there and what I love about Chery's files are the people have hands, with fingers! Not paws.. so realistic! She's all about the details. Check out what I did with the Teariffic Time file:

DSC03198

Tea and cupcakes, yummy! I put 4 oval mats and the scalloped backgrounds, all in the file and added the tea cups, title, and girls! Wow, that's a lot of files in one set.. but isn't this cute? It'd be perfect for your little girls tea party or just a get together. You could add journaling to the tea cups, or add another title to fit your needs. I love how the people have fingers, and the eyes are all on the file so no need to draw or stamp them in. The other file I used this month is the Happy New Year file.
It's not in the store as of this writing but should be anytime. Check under what's new or Holidays, or even the Bear category. It's cute and both these files would be great for elements for cards or other projects.

DSC03196

These bears are so cute!! They are ready to celebrate a wonderful 2013! Look at their dragon costume and lanterns! Festive huh? I added mats, inked all the pieces, and I think the dragon on the left has designs on the dragon peeking over the photo mat on the right... I added some bling to the red lanterns tassels. See what I mean about detail in her files? You can almost hear the festivities can't you? Now to add some photos and this file is in the album!
Over on Creative Kuts at Facebook, they are doing Crop On Line. Seriously, there are currently 3 new files being offered for 5.00 each. You pay through paypal, for whichever file you want, (or all 3) and there's a mini book file as well. Cheryl is offering lots of freebies.. for each file you purchase, you get to choose a door. What's behind the doors? We don't know but they are files or digi stamps to go with your files... last ones was awesome! And unlike Let's Make A Deal, no zonks!! Head over to the store at www.creativekuts.com to see what all is there. Then head to Facebook to get in on the fun and don't forget on Monday and Tuesdays it's BAP days. Check out the awesome projects fans have done with those free files!!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Now for my Project: I did a mini album. It's a 6x6 album of my newest granddaughter, and I did it as a gift to the new parents. I left room for them to add journaling, important info, but cut out some cute words and embellishments with my Cameo. Take a look...

All these premade base pages came with the albums. I must admit I have had several of these albums since I sold CTMH over 15 years ago. The album is yellow and these pages seemed so bright and perfect to give the new parents a jump on scrapbooking this bundle of joy. There are extra page protectors, so they, or Grandma, can make additional embellishments and add more photos. I sent the album to them and hope they like it. I think it will be a great way to show their friends and co-workers the new little one! With albums this quick and easy, why not remember these special moments in our lives? These little albums make it quick and easy and puts the focus on the subject. And in this case, a cutie! I"m kinda of smitten with her...

Cuttin’ and Stampin’ Challenge

Hi! Janet here from Janet's Creative World to share my project for the challenge! I used A Muse products and must admit this was my first time to use them! I love them! Where’s the love button on my blog? Anyway, I used Twine, Straws and the Love Me Do stamp set. Check my card out!
DSC03175
I used a Gray 8 1/2 x 11 piece for the card base. What is really nice is that the back side is white, so when I cut the sheet in half, and fold my card, I can write in it! No need to add a white card for my note. How handy is that? I used a Pink Heart background paper cut to 4 x 5 1/4 as a mat. Cut out a Heart (Silhouette store) on similar background paper. I wrapped the gray twine around the heart then made this cute arrow (Silhouette store) and put the feathered end and point end onto a straw. It looks like the heart has already been captured doesn’t it? I stamped hubba hubba (from the Love Me Do stamp set) so now that I’ve captured someone’s heart we all know what’s in store, don’t we?
That’s a post for another day… LOL Check out all the A Muse products and have a wonderful Valentine’ Day!

VinylDecorbloghop

Welcome to the Vinyl Décor blog hop with our Krazy Crafting Crew. A whole new year of themes and more specific projects to inspire you with. If you have just stumbled upon the hop and would like to start at the beginning Lissa Marie is your host at www.somanycrafts.com.  She has given a video tutorial on how to apply the vinyl, and is also doing a vinyl give away so you don’t want to miss out on that! If you just came from Lissa Marie, you are in the right spot, so let’s keep on hoppin’!
This is my second time giving vinyl a try and I love it. For our hop today I have chosen to do
a photo frame to celebrate our newest granddaughter.

DSC03171
I used a certificate frame and cut the word collage from Cricut Word Collage Cartridge. However, I couldn't find my transfer tape, or anything else that would work so I transferred it painstakingly by hand every letter.. some of them are pretty small. I used a clear quilting square to attempt to get them lined up. (LOL)  The spacing isn't exactly right but it's okay. The focus is on that cute little smile in her newborn photo. BellaBaby Photography took her photos in her mother's room and they are so terrific! I used Cricut Pink Vinyl. The papers are from A Muse Studio . Added a ribbon border but put the bow on the outside of the frame, just so the glass fit into the frame a little tighter.
I have blog candy... so be a follower and leave a comment WITH a way to contact you and I'll put a surprise in the mail to you! And there's more prizes! Check out below!

You should have come here via Teresa- www.createenjoyshare.blogspot.com

Let me introduce myself:
I'm Janet, hostess of Janet's Creative World! I have been crafting since I was a child, and then as I volunteered and worked for Girl Scouts, crafted my heart out with the girls and adults! I love paper crafts! I think because it's instant gratification! Stamping, Scrapbooking, and just coloring takes me back to my Kindergarten days!! Okay, maybe that's too far.. anyway, I work part time now at a local Housing department fixing lunch for the residends, and sell Close to My Heart products. I am looking forward to being on this team and using A Muse products. The ones I used on my project today were amazing! First, let me Celebrate the New Year by offering a card for all of you!

DSC03159

I used my Silhouette to cut out the drinks, which look yummy! I love the flourish of this Happy New Year and hope eveyrone had a great start to 2013! Now I also want to celebrate my upcoming anniversary! It'll be 18 years on the 20th! I'm giving this card to my hubby and I know he won't look at my blog... anyway check it out!

DSC03158

I used A Muse Products for this card. Pink cardstock base, (white inside) took a white piece of cardstock and punch hearts in it, one for each of the sentiment, You, Me, Oui! I embossed the white piece with a dotted swiss embossing folders and layered over a mini heart patterned paper. Wrapped some twine around the top piece before I adhered that to the pink base. I stamped the sentiment and layered that onto the same pink base and tied a bow from the twine to the top.

I want to thank you all again for stopping by and being part of our CELEBRATION Hop. Your next stop is Doris-http://momsbeenscrappin.blogspot.com

Don’t forget to hop all the way through leaving comments for each of the DT members and enter to win blog candy at the end.

I have Blog Candy as well! It's a T-shirt from Two Chicks Designs. It's a Medium so if you can wear a Medium, comment saying, I wear a Medium and be a follower of my blog! Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you!!

In case you get distracted along the way, here is a complete line up so you can make it to the candy.
