Okay, now for my project!
When Jessica sent me the items to use in this hop, I didn't know what might be coming. That's kinda scary... will I like it, will it spark some creative mojo, or ??? But never fear, always LOVE what Jessica sends. Here's the items I got in the mail.
hummm, what to do... love the purple and gold... and the angel stick pins... imagine light bulbs going off, and the sky opening and a bright light... that's how I felt when it dawned on me that Purple and Gold were my high school colors. Sooooo I decided to incorporate my Senior photo (see story) into my project! Yes, I"m that far behind in scrapbooking my life... Let me post my project then I'll tell you an interesting story, or maybe a little motivational.. and perhaps funny!
Yep, that's me! I was 17 years old! Where has all those years gone??? My Senior photos were in Sepia tone, popular at that time.. but this photo was hand painted by a Korean gentlemen while my then fiance (ex-husband now) was stationed there. He had a billfold photo with him and had this man paint my photo and he told him what he remembered the colors being. Shortly after this photo was taken, I was in an auto accident and the ER nurse shaved my hair off from the ears forward. Now back to what I used on my layout, Thickers (Jo-Ann's) for the Garfield and 1970. I had never used them but when I saw them I knew they'd give this that letter jacket kind of look.. then I picked up some purple lettering and did the Class of and Purple Eagles. The Eagle is from an Alaska sticker sheet. Of course, the stars of my layout, A gold Popper and the purple and gold buttons from Pinque Peacock. (with that print on the buttons, they'd be great on a zoo page ) The two stick pin angels, one in purple and one in gold, seemed to be perfect on this page as I am lucky that I am here today. I know I had angels all around me at the time of the accident. It happened as I left the high school one day, excited to get home and get ready for our opening basketball game and a date with my boyfriend. A teacher ran a stop sign and I hit him. Luckily for me an officer picking up his children was behind me and was able to help me and get help quickly. I had my sister and two friends in the car. They weren't hurt but I (driving) went up into the windshield, and then fell back into the seat. I had fractured both hands and forearms, hurt my knees, and had a gash across my forehead just about where that hair swirls down my right forehead. If it had been lower, I could have been blinded, higher and I could have had brain damage. (my sister thinks that verdict is still out) By the time I returned to school in January so I would graduate on time, my hair was just starting to grow in. I looked like the Weebles play thing where you could use playdough to make their hair grow.. It was a rough last few months to finish high school and no one asked me to the prom.. my boyfriend had been drafted and off to the far corners of the earth. That was during the Vietnam era but he landed in Korea. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to continue on and take part in all the fun and give aways!
