We're celebrating friends and family today-I made a card to send to our Thanksgiving dinner hostess.
The Stamp is from Close To My Heart. The paper is from a stack from JoAnn's. Ribbon is from Stampin' Up, bling from Wal-Mart. It's a simple card, no excuse not to send a thank you when you can make one quick and easily, and sometimes we forget what's really important in life. We get caught up in all the trimmings and the extras, but when you have family near by and can enjoy a day with them, that's something to be Thankful for. A simple sentiment that reminds us of what is important as we move into the Thanksgiving holiday season.
My family always tries to have Thanksgiving dinner together. The food, the laughter, the fun.. is all worth the extra work that goes into it. We each have our specialty that we make... my daughter makes the No Bake Cookies.. they're an appetizer with our bunch.. I make the dressing, one pan with oysters, one pan without..my sister makes the ham or the turkey and I do the other.. her two daughters, and my other daughter always bring whatever else we want. We can count on a table full of desserts, pie, cake, candy, and yes there are vegetables.. and I love Sweet Potatoes and my granddaughter loves the marshmallow on them. The guys move to one room to watch the football while the girls find something to do.. sometimes games, or the Christmas movies on, but last year we took advantage of the preseason sales and shopped! That way the guys didn't realize how long we were gone.. but we got some great bargins!! I hope your Thanksgiving is a wonderful day.

I cracked up thinking about the girls sneaking out to shop while the boys watch football! Thanksgiving has always been "my" holiday, some have been great, some not so much. Twenty-nine years ago on 11/23 Thanksgiving, I miscarried a late-term baby -- I was devastated! For years, I could barely get through Thanksgiving even after I had a baby in my arms to love. Twenty years later (1994), 11/23, I was separated from my husband and spending my first Thanksgiving without my daughter, when I met a wonderful man named John. As the divorce finalized, We fell in love, and got married 5 years later. This year, on 11/23, we'll renew our vows on a cruise ship. :) ♥

Beautiful card. I love hearing about your family's tradition. It sounds a lot like mine but the guys in my family only 3 of them sleep. My family is very small. I have one sister( she has 3 kid, 22,21,18) and then my mom and me and billey plus a few that we have made into family about 12 total including kids. I love spending time with my family and that is what the Holidays are all about.
